A SAD SONG DON'T CARE WHO'S HEART IT BREAKS

There's a beggar lying in the street, he won't make it through the night
And a ghetto child of 13 years, he will learn to stand and fight
Another young girl's heart is broken, by her lover who's a flake
I guess a sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

There's a farmer who will lose his land, to a lender who won't wait
One more father pleads for custody, stands before a magistrate
And a new bride with trembling voice, won't keep the vows she takes
I guess a sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks..

A sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks
You can wind up as a hero, you can wind up a disgrace
Sometimes you've gotta wonder, is it timing or just fate
A sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

Just one more promise broken, sometimes that's all it takes
A sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

The strong still seek out power, while the weak still run and hide
They persecute the innocent, for their colour, faith and pride
All those who've died for freedom, have we learned by our mistakes?
Still, a sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

A sad song don't care who's heart it breaks
You can wind up as a hero, you can wind up a disgrace
Sometimes you gotta wonder, is it timing or just fate?
A sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

Still so much strife and misery, all that wreckage in it's wake
A sad song, don't care who's heart it breaks.

    COMING BACK TO  YOU

Your words still ring inside my head, a broken heart, the things you said
As I still live, I am not dead, I'm coming back to you.
Through all the miles and lands I've crossed, I never stopped to count the cost
Now I've been found, yes I was lost, I'm coming back to you.

Each lonely night upon my bed, your image still inside my head
Yes I have moaned, Lord I have bled, I'm coming back to you.
I've crossed some lands I've traveled far, through dusty towns seen every bar
And still I wonder where you are, I'm coming back to you.

In sacred books some things are said, they haunt the soul and pain the head
They've never held me back instead, I'm coming back to you.

And now the time it goes so fast, somehow I feel the die is cast
But I must stretch the days at last, I'm coming back to you.

Yes from the cup of  life I've sipped, for every forward step I've tripped
But some things go and some things stick, I'm coming back to you.

    DON'T HOLD BACK

You say come here, now you best sit down
I've gotta tell you things that'll bring you down
You look away as you shed a tear
Now you're telling me, what I must hear.

That it's not right, oooh there's something wrong
Inside your heart, you've been moving on
And it's not me, that you're running from
The simple truth, it's what I haven't done.

Don't hold back, oooh just let it fly
Don't hold back, don't you sit and cry
Now don't hold back, tell it straight and true
Say it right out loud, what you intend to do.

Look into my eyes, give me your best shot
Don't take away my pride, now it's all I've got
Tell me straight and clear, what's been on your mind
That it's been you, you've been trying to find.

If  I do shake, oooh and my knees do bend
Make no mistake, broken hearts can mend
As the years go by, and your pain is gone
Will you think of me, was this right or wrong?

But don't hold back, oooh just let it go
Don't hold back, I guess it's best I know
I can't hold back, the tears I'm looking through yeah
Now that it's clear, what you intend to do.
I can't hold back, ooh the tears I'm looking through
Now that it's clear, what you intend to do...mmm..

    WITH THE COMING OF SNOW

There are long lonely hours, between darkness and dawn
When sleep doesn't come, and the nights just drag on
Then the thoughts that arise, from the missing of you
Bring on deep dark despair, just to think that it's true.

Up and gone you have left , like some thief in the night
You have shaken my pride, how you played with my life
I have cried, I have tried, to stop thinking of you
Through those long lonely hours, it's still something I do.

Too many long lonely hours, between darkness and light
As the first rays of hope, put an end to the night
And the months that have past, have not softened the blow
Of a love that was lost, with the coming of snow.

I am trying to heal, the best way I know how
But the mind can't move on, if the heart won't allow
Now the emptiness grows, in the pain and decay
I am lost, still in love, and it won't fade away.

I am worn, I am drawn, this feeling's not right
It's time I move on, though try as I might
In those long lonely hours, I just can't let go
Of a love that was lost, with the coming of snow
In those long lonely hours, I just can't let go
Of a love that was lost, with the coming of snow.

    LIVE WITH YOUR HEART

You're not the only girl who's wanted to sail
Upon the ocean, get a feel for the waves
But I can see you now, on an endless sea.

You're not the only girl who's wanted to climb
High on a mountain, at the head of the line
But I can see you now, above the clouds and trees.

And in some solitary place, where you can't be found
You spread peace and kindness, just hanging out
Leave all the baggage of your day to day
Rules don't apply to those who find their way.

Out of the darkness, out of the night, you find the good, you find the light
Live your tomorrows not yesterday's dreams, live with your heart, it's your destiny.

You're not the only girl with beauty and charm
But you found real love, in the arms of the man
Of your choosing, beneath a southern sky.

You're the only girl who's answered my prayers
Unlocked a soul, where a soul wasn't there
You're the only one, who could do all that.

Out of the darkness, out of the night, you find the good, you find the light
Live your tomorrows not yesterday's dreams, live with your heart, it's your destiny.

    I CAN'T STOP LOVING

No one can explain it, when true love fades away
A trusted heart grows cold, there's nothing left to say
Nothing that can save you, from the pain that you must feel
When you say goodbye to someone, when you know your love is real.

Some say you must let go, it's time, you should move on
And good friends soon grow tired of, who was right and what went wrong
Some still worry 'bout you, they call you now and then
To tell you that it's you, you must look out for in the end.

I can't stop loving, just because you're gone
I can't stop loving, these feelings just go on and on and on
I can't stop loving, I don't know what I'll do
I just, can't stop loving you.

At night you find it hard to sleep, and just before you wake
You dream of her returning, how you've worked on your mistakes
Somewhere in the light of day, the truths, all over you
You know she's gone forever, now there's nothing you can do.

I can't stop loving, just because you're gone
I can't stop loving, these feelings just go on and on and on
I can't stop loving, I don't know what I'll do
I just can't stop loving you.
I can't stop loving, I don't know what I'll do
I just can't stop, I just can't stop... I just can't stop loving you.

I WILL GO ON LOVING YOU

You needed me, I needed you
I won't forget the crazy things we used to do
As time goes by, I've watched you cry
Now I must help you do the thing that you must do.

And in that far off place where pastures look so green
Fly to those lofty heights, fulfill your hopes and dreams
Beneath each silver moon and nights beneath the stars
Know that I'll always sit and wonder where you are.

How I will miss your tender touch and each caress when love was us
Our two hearts beat as one, the way that lovers do
We had our time, I hold it dear, it was a time there were no tears
When we believed that love was real, and it was true
Now and forever, I will go on loving you.

You've found your wings, you've learned to sing
It's time to mend your broken heart find something new
So you will fly, take to the sky
And in the end I guess that's just what song birds do.

And in that far off place where pastures look so green
Fly to those lofty heights, fulfill your hopes and dreams
Beneath each silver moon and nights beneath the stars
Know that I'll always sit and wonder where you are.

I'll miss you every single night, the sounds of laughter every fight
And after loving, we could always talk it through
I will remember all the times you'd fall asleep right in my arms
You still believed our love was strong, and I did too
Now and forever, don't you believe it too?

Now after loving you this long, I know these feelings can't be wrong
And I just can't get past the thought, of losing you
Still after all that's said and done, I can't believe you'd cut and run
Don't you believe in me? I still believe in you
I now forever, I'll go on loving you.

A FATHER'S LOVE

I know you sometimes get downhearted, it's easy to feel blue
I remember many times I've felt that way too.
There'll be times you'll get knocked about, you'll bounce back again
You'll stand tall above them all, triumph in the end.

Through the years you'll see your share, of sacrifice and pain
There's no life without it, without it there's no gain
It's a lifetime bent on trying, to make your dreams come true
If I were a betting man, I'd surely bet on you.

So take your place, know who you are
Learn the rules, run the race, you'll go far
Don't stand on pride, that's what they say
There may be times you find it wise to walk away
A father's love, hard to express
Locked in the memory of a child, beneath the breast
Unto your heart, always be true
It's there, you'll find that peace of mind, will follow you.

YOU STILL SEE THE LIGHT

You can't feel the sun still burning, in the sky
And you don't see the moon above, on a moonlit night
You may not see the stars in heaven, shining bright
But even in the deepest sea, you still see the light.

Your smile is hard to find, as you go barefoot over stone
I've seen you walk together, but I know you've walked alone
True love won't come easy, but love is always right
When clouds begin to gather, you still see the light.

You still see the light, when love turns 'round on you
You still see the light, when friends are far and few
You'll leave your past behind you, the way that you must do
You still see the light, the light still shines on you.

And somewhere in your future, on a day you least expect
Someone will believe in you, that's someone to protect
For all that's wrong you'll find the truth, this time you'll get it right
You'll never see the darkness, you just see the light.

You still see the light, when love turns 'round on you
You still see the light, when friends are far and few
You'll leave your past behind you, the way that you must do
You still see the light, the light it still finds you.

You'll leave your past behind you, the way that you must do
You still see the light, the light still shines on you.

A CARPENTER'S HANDS

I'll build a skylight, over your bed
And I'll be the pillow, under your head
We'll have the starlight, every night
Making our future bright.

There'll be a staircase, so level and fine
Slowly but surely, one step at a time
Faith to hold onto, when climbs get too tough
There will be time enough.

So put your heart in this carpenter's hands
If life gets too rough, we'll polish and sand
There'll be a fire, where we can repair
My love will always be there.

There's more to a home, than hardwood and nails
I offer you, arms that won't fail
A carpenter's hands, will build every day
A love that won't fade away.

A carpenter's hands, will build every day
A love that won't fade away.

STILL TRYIN' TO LOSE WHAT I HAVE LOST

I believe in laughter, I believe in tears
In every tender moment, through every passing year
I still believe in true love ways, I 'm not the hurtin' kind
But I believe I'd sell my soul, to hold you one more time.

I believe in beauty, I believed in you
But I've known bitter sorrow, felt the hurt you've put me through
I believe you loved me once, but now I know it's true
You don't believe in me, but I believe I do.

So I will turn the final page, try and close this book on you
Not knowing where to turn, still not knowing what I'll do
It's a big old world, I must pay the cost
Day by day still tying to lose, what I have lost.

So I'll start trying on my own, to fill this heart again
And after all you've put me through, we can't be friends
But as each year slips by, where ever you might be
You'll still be in my heart, in that you can believe.

I will turn the final page, close this book on you
Not knowing where to turn, not knowing what I'll do
It's a big old world, I must pay the cost
Day by day still tying to lose, what I have lost.

In a big old world, I must pay the cost
Day by day, still trying to lose, what I have lost.

WHEN I LOST YOU I LOST ME

I still struggle for the answers, as each question comes along
I try to solve each riddle, even use them in my songs
I have slowly built my castles, not one stone was left unturned
Now my eyes are truly open, as I watch my last bridge burn.

I've worked hard to raise my family, teach them values straight and true
Through good and bad, happy, sad I came to count on you
I've watched while you have wondered, from the very path you chose
I've known darker times, bitter wines, the thorns, the bloody rose.

I lost me, when I lost you
A broken heart right from the start, what could I do?
It's not my choice, to set you free
When I lost you, I lot me.

Two hard years have come and gone, you've said goodbye to me
I still can't find peace of mind, or shake the memory
I've really tried, dug deep inside, to get up off the floor
This feeling's wrong, it can't go on, I swear I love you more.

Life it's said is what you make it, some things are meant to be
The truth can really hurt but truth can set you free
And the time you put between us, can not wash away the tears
Or repair the trust now broken and after all these years.

I lost me, when I lost you
A broken heart right from the start, what could I do?
It's not my choice, to set you free
When I lost you, I lost me.

It's not my choice, to set you free
When I lost you, I lost me.
