DAVID HUTCHINS is a versatile and talented musician who has honed his craft over four decades as an accomplished entertainer and singer/songwriter.

At a young age, he was recording, performing and entertaining as bassist, then lead guitarist/vocalist for the band The Whiskey Sours throughout Ontario, Canada.

In the heyday of the YORKVILLE ERA in Toronto, they performed regularly at such clubs as The El Patio, The Purple Onion, Jacques Place and Charlie Brown’s, sharing the stage with contemporaries such as David Clayton Thomas [Blood Sweat and Tears], The Paupers [Lighthouse], The Sparrow [Steppenwolf], The Stitch in Time, the McCoys, The Stampeders and Question Mark and the Mysterians to mention a few.

David is a 4-year graduate of The Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada and had taken time away from music through his middle years, owning a company specializing in the design and construction of bars and restaurants.

In 1980 he once again began to perform, write and record his own music. Initial recordings began at Amber Studio on Queen Street in Toronto, Ontario with producer George Semkiew (RCA).

In 1985 he designed, built and managed his own nightclub GLIDERS, in Hamilton, Ontario. The focus was on an extensive menu and in-house production for an array of top Canadian and U.S. recording acts.

Gliders became the staging ground for some of the music industries best known performers, as well as for breaking acts who would go on to great success. This included such greats as Buddy Guy, John Hammond Jr., Muddy Water’s Legendary Blues Band, Dr. Hook, The Byrds, Tragically Hip, Allanah Myles, Downchild, Prairie Oyster, The Good Brothers, Powder Blues Band and so many more. Throughout this period David also fronted his own house band ‘Tailspin’.

In 1987 he returned to music full time and through collaboration with some of music’s best, accepted an invitation to Nashville, TN and an introduction to producer Gene Rice [Alabama]. This produced

a charted ten-song album of David’s original compositions accompanied by videos on Much Music Canada and CMT, Nashville.

These efforts were rewarded with Canada’s most prestigious JUNO AWARDS nomination for Country Male Vocalist of the Year and a BIG COUNTRY AWARDS nomination for Outstanding New Artist in the early 1990’s. Five single releases from the album were charted nationally across Canada with airplay in Europe. This was supported by European and Canadian tours as well as Caribbean performances and opening acts (George Jones, Dan Seals, Marie Osmond) to mention a few.

During album recording sessions with producer David Moyles through 2004/05 in Kleinberg, Ontario, Hutchins took time out in the role of Music Consultant to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission. He was commissioned to provide the expertise to procure the best in concert PA, staging and lighting for seven of the Commission's gaming and live music casino facilities within Ontario, Canada.

David has just returned from Nashville, TN having worked in collaboration with producer John Stacey and co-producer Margie Cates. He has just completed a 12 song master recording of original material, selected from a 100 song catalogue of his work.

Having made his home in Canada for most of his life, David now spends his time between Canada, Florida, Nashville, Tennessee, and Los Angeles, California.

Whether performing as a single artist or with a full band, David’s honest and soulful performances have touched many at venues ranging from concerts and festivals to the more intimate personalized club dates.

His writing skills have produced compelling melodies and lyrics. This, coupled with his years as a seasoned performer, embody entertainment at it’s best.
