An Old Cowboy
Song Lyrics
He’s long and lean like an old string bean his face is hard and lined
Behind a mustached lip he’s got a barbed wire wit he’ll use from time to time
Never press him, don’t second guess him there’s more there than you’d think
He’s got a quick right hand and he always stands at the bar when he takes his drink.
He can stretch the truth if his lips get loose his stories go back years
His legs were bowed by those bulls he’s road runnin cows and ropin spears
He walks real stiff got that broken hip breaking colts last fall
He’s been feeling down since he’s moved to town was it worth it after all.
An old cowboy who’s working days are done
Always half broke with no place left to run
An old cowboy with nothin left to prove
An old cowboy who’s cowboy days are through.
He drives a broke down Ford with a kicked in door still pulls a one horse van through town
It was just last year I seen him shed a tear when he put that old horse down
Before he’s called to board asked by the Lord, to take that final ride
I hope he’ll understand how I love that man and his damned old cowboy pride.
He can’t chew beef too many missing teeth got a hide as coarse as sand.
An old cowboy who’s working days are done
Always half broke with no place left to run
An old cowboy with nothin left to prove
An old cowboy like a pair of worn out boots
An old cowboy who’s cowboy days are through.
Happy trails to you…
You Still See The Light
Song Lyrics
You can’t feel the sun still burning in the sky
And you don’t see the moon above on a moonlit night
You may not see the stars in heaven shinning bright
But even in the deepest sea you still see the light.
You’re smile is hard to find as you go barefoot over stone
I’ve seen you walk together but I know you’ve walked alone
True love won’t come easy but love is always right
When clouds begin to gather you still see the light.
You still see the light when love turns ‘round on you
You still see the light when friends are far and few
You’ll leave your past behind you the way that you must do
You still see the light the light still shines on you.
Somewhere in your future on a day you least expect
Someone will believe in you that’s someone to protect
For all that’s wrong you’ll find the truth this time you’ll get it right
You’ll never see the darkness you just see the light.
You still see the light when love turns ‘round on you
You still see the light when friends are far and few
You’ll leave your past behind you the way that you must do
You still see the light the light it still finds you
You still see the light the light still shines on you.
Still Trying To Lose What I Have Lost
Song Lyrics
I believe in laughter I believe in tears
In every tender moment through every passing year
I still believe in true love ways I ‘m not the hurting kind
But I believe I’d sell my soul to hold you one more time.
I believe in beauty I believed in you
But I’ve known bitter sorrow felt the hurt you’ve put me through
I believe you loved me once but now I know it’s true
You don’t believe in me but I believe I do.
So I will turn the final page try and close this book on you
Not knowing where to turn still not knowing what I’ll do
It’s a big old world I must pay the cost
Day by day, still tying to lose what I have lost.
So I’ll start trying on my own to fill this heart again
And after all you’ve put me through we can’t be friends
But as each year slips by where ever you might be
You’ll still be in my heart in that you can believe.
I will turn the final page try and close this book on you
Not knowing where to turn not knowing what I’ll do
It’s a big old world I must pay the cost
Day by day still tying to lose what I have lost.
In a big old world I must pay the cost
Day by day still trying to lose what I have lost.
This Old Room
Song Lyrics
This old room in times of trouble is where I come to think things out
It knows the sounds of heated whispers and it should know what love’s about
It knows those late hours I’ve been keeping and the smell of alcohol
And through those long nights it shares it’s secrets through the walls.
It might seem strange to have to say it but there’s just this room and me
We’re like two old friends together we keep each other company
And I can strum this sad old guitar or cry my heart out in a song
And with those lights low I see my shadows dance along.
This old room is nothing special this old room has just four walls
Just one window where the light shines in and a bathroom down the hall
A small closet and a mirror and a night light by my bed
This old room is where she once laid her head.
Now I’m sitting on my suitcase all my things are packed away
I’ll be leaving in the morning come first light at break of day
Only memories remain here all those curtains they’ll be drawn
So turn the keys in to this old room and I’ll be gone.
This old room was something special where we once had it all
Now I’m left here with the echo of her footsteps down the hall
My old guitar sits in silence I just sing the blues instead
This old room is where she once laid her head
This old room is where she once laid her head.
