About

By 1987 before it’s rebirth, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium was retired and in disrepair. The Grand Ole Opry had moved on to it’s new home.

“ 87 was my first time at the Ryman and I was cloaked in it’s history. Looking out to empty seats in the dimmed light coming from it’s church windows, it was center stage where I felt the ghosts of those famous Country Artists of the past all around me. Alone in that dark empty theatre, the silence was deafening.”

David Hutchins is a Singer/Songwriter who paints pictures with words. His writing style is pure Country Crossover. His lyrics are so vivid you get the picture, without the video. You may even find ‘yourself’ in his songs, they are compelling and relatable.

A Story Teller, David has a gift for seeing the unseen. His ballads are rich and provoking, they tug at your emotions. He can also fire up an audience, get them on their feet singing and dancing in the isles. Songs of possibilities, our commonality, family and home, global concerns, the tragedy of war, our environment, nostalgia, our pain, our joy and of course love, both won and lost, are all subjects of his songwriting.

“ Do songwriters write themselves into their own songs? Boarding a plane, checking out at the grocery store, Sunday morning in church, the people, the faces, the lives, It’s all right there, you don’t need to!”

With an engaging personality and a catalogue of over 250 original compositions, he is a prolific and talented professional singer/songwriter with numerous Canadian and Nashville recordings. National charted radio play, videos and international touring and a huge list of entertainment venues, are all part of his history.

As for vocals, David’s Country Male Vocalist Of The Year nomination for Canada’s most prestigious Juno Awards as well as an Outstanding New Artist nomination for the Big Country Awards leaves little doubt, he can sing! With his voice and writing style well matched, he also has the versatility that can handle more than one music genre. His instruments of choice are acoustic and electric guitar as well as keyboards and piano.

“I write about the things I see and feel. I hope my songs and perspectives will provoke thought, something relatable, in this ever changing world!”
